History
Georges Duboeuf is from one of the oldest winegrowing families in the Beaujolais because his ancestors were already exploiting a property during the eighteen century.
On the 23rd of September 1964 the Limited Company “Les Vins Georges Duboeuf” was formed. From the very beginning, he built on his reputation in restaurants of high quality, and it was in this way that his wines won the approval of the great chefs, Paul Blanc, Paul Bocuse as well as others.
The first time Georges Dubœuf really stood out, was during The Universal Exhibition in Montreal in 1967. Shortly after this event, Georges Duboeuf will conquer United States, Canada, Japan, the Far East, Africa…The brand is now recognized in over 140 countries.
Today, Georges Duboeuf, the man who put Beaujolais Nouveau on the world’s lips, works with 400 winegrowers and 13 cooperative. His son, who is strongly involved in Les Vins Georges Duboeuf, is managing with is father the first wine merchant in Burgundy…

Beaujolais
- The winery is established in Romaneche – Thorins
- They are producing wine from Beaujolais and also from Maconnais, Pays d’OC, and Cote du Rhone
- Wine Growing in the Beaujolais goes back to the 2nd or 3rd century
- Named after a 9th-12th century ruler called Sires of Beaujeu
- Vineyards cover 50kms north to south and 15kms across
- Beaujolais can be divided into 3 families :
- Beaujolais (mainly to the south and east)
- Beaujolais Villages (mainly skirting the Crus)
- The Crus (North of the Beaujolais Region)
- Production (Per year) :
- Beaujolais : 7 million cases
- Beaujolais Villages : 3.8 million cases
- 10 Crus : 4 million cases
- Beaujolais area is focusing only on one grape called Gamay ( Black skin, White juice) using the exclusive technic of carbonic maceration.
