The Union of Grands Crus de Bordeaux in China!
Event on 12/05/2011Touring Asia for 10 days, the producers and brand ambassadors from world’s most famous wine region were in China recently, after visiting Seoul, Osaka and Tokyo. Beijing on the 2nd of December, Shanghai on the 3rd, Xiamen and finally Guangzhou on the 5th and 6th, in total, more than 100 Grands Crus from Bordeaux were introduced to the Chinese public. Attendance to the event was higher than ever.
Graves, Pessac-Léognan, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Pomerol, Listrac-Médoc, Moulis-en-Médoc, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, Sauternes et Barsac, for this 2011 edition, it is the 2008 vintage that was tasted by some 1200 people in Beijing and nearly 2000 in Shanghai. In China’s economic capital, the tasting was held at the famous Hyatt on the Bund.
This 2008 vintage is pretty good and relatively complex and, contrary to its elder brother from 2007, it is closed, which means that you’ll have to open the bottle at least 10 to 30 minutes before tasting in order to appreciate all its subtelty.
The French Wine Paradox team, which distribute most of these Grands Crus in China, was there of course to taste again this vintage which will obviously make its way through the Chinese Market.
